The dye colorant in the dye ink is completely dissolved in ink in a single molecule. The colorant particles are small and easily soluble in water or other chemical solvents. Such a structure makes it difficult for the dye ink to block the nozzle. Even if it is clogged, dredging the nozzle is relatively simple. However, there are a large number of hydrophilic particles in the dye colorant of the dye ink, which are easily dissolved. In this way, once the printed manuscript meets Water, the colorant that was fixed on the medium will dissolve again, and spread to the surroundings with the flow of water, causing serious blooming. This is the main reason for the poor water resistance of dye inks. At the same time, the colorant of the dye ink is directly exposed to the air. Pigment ink is the image of powdery pink. Of course, this is just a kind of image, and it is not accurate enough. Contrary to the principle that dye ink penetrates into the medium and then forms color, it develops color by attaching color materials to the surface of the medium (such as copy paper or printing paper, etc.).

Why is the color reduction ability of dye ink better than pigment ink? This is mainly due to the different choice of colorants. For dye inks, after decades of development, the process has been very mature, and it is easy to use natural or synthetic methods to produce colorants of various colors. The traditional pigment inks rely on ground minerals as colorants. The available raw materials are very limited, and the colors cannot be changed at will. This leads to the inherent shortcomings of pigment inks in color performance. At present, although some colorants of pigment inks can be ground and manufactured with some non-mineral materials, due to the strict requirements of pigment inks on the particle size and emulsification effect of colorants, the technical problems of colorants have not yet been completely solved. This leads to a certain gap in color performance between pigment ink and dye ink. Fortunately, this gap is already very small. Without a direct comparison, it is difficult to visually distinguish the color difference between high-quality pigment ink and dye ink.
