High Quality Water Based Dye Ink generally refer to water-soluble inks, but are also solvent-based inks made from alcohol-soluble/oil-soluble dyes. Pigment inks are insoluble in water, so they need to be ultra-finely dispersed before they can be applied. High Quality Water Based Dye Ink generally refer to water-soluble inks, but are also solvent-based inks made from alcohol-soluble/oil-soluble dyes. Pigment inks are insoluble in water, so they need to be ultra-finely dispersed before they can be applied. The inks produced with pigments have narrower color gamut and darker colors, but black inks are sharp, without burrs, and are waterproof and light-resistant.

Due to the simple production process of Water Based Dye Ink for Epson and the low cost of dyes, most compatible consumables manufacturers use black dye ink instead of pigment ink, which can save cost and do not require too much technology. Most of the black dye inks have carcinogenic components - benzidine (the first carcinogen of IARC, which has strong carcinogenic effect and is an intermediate for dye synthesis, with a human incubation period of 10 to 20 years).

Consumables manufacturers know that benzidine and its derivatives are carcinogens. After contact or absorption by human body, azo breaks with the metabolism of the human body, and the dye will be re-separated to liberate carcinogenic intermediates, causing direct harm to the human body, but it is driven by profit. And the market impact is still in mass production.

Original inkjet printer manufacturers use pigment black ink for basic black, and almost all dyes use color ink.
